The underside of a car on a lift, showing the exhaust pipe running the length of the floor pan.
Most exhaust problems are found from underneath, not from the driver's seat.
A workshop wall hung with rows of mufflers, resonators and exhaust clamps.
Exhaust parts come in a lot of shapes. The right one depends on the car and the section that failed.

What the noise usually is

A roar that is worst on a cold morning is often a hole rusted through the muffler or a rotted pipe joint. A rattle over bumps is usually a loose heat shield or a broken hanger.

A rusted muffler and tailpipe seen from below a vehicle.
Rust works from the inside out. By the time it shows on the shell, the pipe is usually thin too.
Hands reaching up into a vehicle chassis with a wrench, working on rusted components.
Seized bolts add time. It is the part of the job nobody can quote from the parking lot.

Exhaust and muffler work

The run from the manifold back to the tip is one system. Often only the failed section needs replacing, not all of it.

Bring the car in and we will put it on the lift and show you what we find.

Polished exhaust header pipes curving away from an engine block.
Where the pipe exits tells you very little. What matters is the length of it you cannot see.

General auto repair too

The shop is not only exhaust. General repair work goes through the same bays, on the same lifts.

Call before you drive over. If we know what the car is doing, the lift can be clear when you arrive.
